Meet the Instructor

The Bushcraft Workshop is led by none other than Bushcraft Kelso. Kelso is well known for constructing a wide array of items from natural materials and for the quality of his carving, fire-starting, and bushcraft skills. He’s an expert at thinking outside of the box and a true resource for those looking to start their bushcraft journey, and anyone looking to take their skills to the next level.

Women’s Wilderness Weekend

The Women’s Wilderness Weekend offers a supportive, skills-focused environment designed specifically for women who want to grow their confidence in the outdoors. It combines practical survival instruction with community-building and shared experience.
Over the weekend, participants explore essential wilderness skills, including fire starting, shelter construction, navigation basics, self-aid considerations, and situational awareness. The curriculum emphasizes both preparedness and empowerment, giving attendees tools they can apply on future trips while strengthening their comfort in natural settings.

Women’s Wilderness Weekend Level 2

Women’s Wilderness Weekend Level 2 builds on the foundation established in the introductory course. It is intended for returning students or those with prior experience who want to deepen their skill set.
Level 2 expands into more advanced bushcraft techniques, including friction fire methods, more involved shelter construction, navigation refinement, and greater emphasis on long-term woodland living skills. Participants practice decision-making, teamwork, and resilience in realistic outdoor scenarios.

Navigation 101

Navigation 101 is designed for anyone who wants to feel more confident using a map and compass rather than relying solely on technology. It focuses on practical land navigation skills for hiking, hunting, backpacking, and general outdoor travel.
Students will learn how to orient a map, understand topographic lines, use a compass properly, take bearings, and interpret terrain features. The class emphasizes real-world application, helping participants build a reliable navigation process that works even when electronics fail.

Meet the Instructor

All three of these courses are led by Jacks Genega. Jacks is an avid adventurer and full-time van-lifer who travels across the country teaching various wilderness skills with a focus on tree medicine and camp craft. She hopes to share her love of all things bushcraft and survival in hopes of not only helping others develop a shared skill set but also aiding in a sense of resilience through self-reliance by inspiring others to participate in the field.

Wilderness Survival

The Wilderness Survival course prepares participants to handle unexpected situations in the backcountry. It centers on priorities that matter most when conditions become challenging.
Students work through survival fundamentals, including shelter building, fire-making with limited resources, water sourcing and purification, signaling, and maintaining core temperature. The training reinforces critical thinking and prioritization so participants can respond calmly and effectively in stressful environments.

Advanced Bushcraft

Advanced Bushcraft is intended for students who want to push beyond introductory skills and immerse themselves in deeper wilderness living techniques. This course explores advanced fire techniques, expanded tool work, woodcraft projects, resource processing, and longer-term camp skills. Participants refine their efficiency, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities while gaining a more comprehensive understanding of living comfortably in the woods.
