Olde Towne Cutlery's New Budget-Friendly Knives
The Georgia Bushcraft Gathering is a great place to check out knives from a variety of makers and retailers. And one of our sponsors, Olde Towne Cutlery, will have a new line of made in the USA, budget friendly blades available at the 2024 Fall Gathering.
This new line, dubbed Yard Dog Knives, came about through an interesting path. Olde Towne Cutlery is a great place to get a host of knife handle materials for your DIY or start-to-finish knifemaking projects. What you might not know is that OTC cuts all of this material into scale-sized pieces from large sheets in-house. This means they have a lot of used saw blades, and knowing that saw blade steel is also good knife steel, Yard Dog Knives was born.
Yard Dog Knives are cut on a plasma CNC, ground by hand, and acid etched. Then they're handled using material that is off-cut from the sheets of G-10 and Micarta that OTC sells for handle material. They're paired with a USA-made leather sheath. Keeping with the theme, the packaging is even recycled. And most impressively none of the knives in the Yard Dog line are over $100.
Be sure to visit the Olde Towne Cutlery booth during the GABC Gathering and check out the all new Yard Dog Knives.
